Migrating to Holdfire Network
Transferring your cPanel account to Holdfire is FREE for all new shared and reseller accounts.
If you’re currently looking into making Holdfire Network your hosting company, and you’ve got a cPanel account with your current host, then you’re in luck. We can do cPanel transfer for new accounts so that you don’t lose any of your personal data files, MySQL databases, or anything else attached to your cPanel account.
Just follow the simple To-Do list we’ve set up, and we can get things running smoothly with no downtime whatsoever, that way your account will always be up for your visitors.
- Make sure your (cPanel) hosting account is still active.
- Create/Pay your order, then send us your cPanel username, and password
- Don’t update your site while we transfer. Backup your webmail e-mails to your PC
- Update your nameservers to allow for domain propagation
- Use your temporary IP address to upload/update your site
- Double check all of your pages to ensure everything transferred okay
- Enjoy your new account, and maybe send us cookies.
1.) To ensure that we can transfer over your cPanel, make sure that your hosting account is still active and not suspended. This is so that we can get that backup sent over to our servers to begin the transfer process. The best thing to do is to go ahead and get hosting through Holdfire, while still having hosting elsewhere so that you can ensure that your account is up and current at that time.
2.) After making sure that your account is still accessable, and after you’ve created and paid for your order, send a support ticket through your client control panel with your cPanel username, and password from your previous along with the domain name that we’ll be transferring from.
3.) To make sure that you don’t lose anything in the process, we recommend that you do not update the site after we begin transferring. Once we create a backup of your cPanel, anything made after the backup will not be transferred. We also recommend that if you have any webmail accounts on your cPanel, to go into Mozilla Thunderbird or Microsoft Outlook [Express] and set up POP3 account so that you can save any and all e-mails you need to your computer–This is because we cannot transfer over webmail e-mails.
4.) Next you’ll want to open your New Hosting Account e-mail and locate your new Holdfire Network nameservers. Log into your domain registrar and update your nameservers to reflect those in your New Hosting Account e-mail. Doing this will allow your domain to start to propagate while we’re transferring over your cPanel. This means that your site will bounce from your old host, to our servers which will be displaying your new account.
5.) If you would like to upload, update, or work on your site but you’re not sure if the site has propagated, open your New Hosting Account e-mail. In the e-mail locat the temporary IP address for your website, which will allow you to access your cPanel. There you will be able to access everything. Anything done through the temporary IP will also save to your new cPanel so that when your domain is 100% propagated, those changes will show through.
6.) Once the cPanel transfer is complete, we’ll ask that you go through all of your PHP and MySQL related files to ensure that things were transferred properly with no errors at all. Then you can cancel your other hosting services, so that you will no longer be billed.
7.) Start enjoying your new account hosted through Holdfire Network!
